Doodle Shooter Controls: Keyboard, Mouse and Controller Guide
Learn every Doodle Shooter control input for movement, aiming, grappling, weapons, menus, scoreboard, keyboard and controller play.
Doodle Shooter controls are built for fast movement and quick weapon changes. The game is easiest to learn with a mouse and keyboard, but it also supports controller input and updates the on-screen prompts based on your most recently used device.
Use this guide as a quick reference before starting a solo run, joining multiplayer or replaying a Doodle District challenge seed.
Core movement controls
Move with WASD and aim with the mouse. Hold Shift to sprint, press Space to jump, and use C or Ctrl to slide on the ground or air dash while airborne. Movement is not just for travel; it is how you avoid being surrounded.
The safest habit is to move in wide loops through streets, stairs and rooftops. When enemies begin to close in, slide or air dash before turning to fight.
Grappling hook controls
Use Q or E to fire the grappling hook. Aim at rooftops, ledges or marked high points, then use the pull to cross a dangerous gap or escape a crowded street.
Do not grapple at random. A good grapple has a destination: a reload route, high ground, a cleaner sightline or a place where enemies need time to catch up.
Combat controls
Use the left mouse button to fire or slash. Use the right mouse button to aim, block or prepare a defensive action depending on the equipped weapon. Press R to reload and G to throw a grenade.
Weapons are selected with 1-4 or the mouse wheel. Press F for a quick katana slash when an enemy gets close and there is no time to swap carefully.
Scoreboard and menu
Press Tab to show the scoreboard during multiplayer. Press Esc to pause, open the menu or release pointer lock when the browser has captured the mouse.
If the game stops responding to mouse movement, click back inside the game frame. Browser games need focus before they can receive aiming and keyboard input.
Controller play
A supported controller can be used instead of mouse and keyboard. The exact button labels depend on the device, but the game exposes prompts for movement, aiming, weapons, jumping, grappling and menu actions as you play.
For the most precise Doodle Shooter game experience, mouse and keyboard remain the recommended setup. Controller play is useful for casual runs or when you prefer analog movement.

When an input seems unresponsive
A ground slide needs movement speed: C or Ctrl from a standstill is crouching. In the air, those keys can request an air dash; X or left Alt is an alternative. Air dashing has a cooldown and is unavailable while the grapple is attached.
Click inside the game before testing mouse look. Esc releases pointer lock and can pause play; returning to the page alone does not restore aiming. Avoid clicking the browser toolbar while trying a control. This game does not provide a touch-only button layout, so use a mouse and keyboard or a supported controller.
The game has four selectable weapons on 1–4. F or V performs the quick melee action. When switching to a controller, follow the game's on-screen device prompts rather than assuming every controller uses the same printed button labels.
